Sir Bobby Robson Day
Today (17th April) has been designated Sir Bobby Robson Day at Portman Road, Ipswich, as two clubs that were very close to Sir Bobby’s heart play each other in the Championship.
Our thanks to both clubs for everything they are doing to support our work. Sir Bobby’s family are very grateful.
And special thanks to everyone at Ipswich Town and Sir Bobby’s former players who have put so much into fundraising for us over this weekend.
Fundraising activities benefitting our Foundation and Ipswich Town’s Academy include a black tie dinner at Portman Road, a bucket collection today and money donated from sales of Sir Bobby Robson Day pin badges and today’s fantastic 100 page souvenir match programme.
In addition, ‘half and half scarves’ honouring Sir Bobby are also available through the club and will raise funds for Ipswich Town’s Academy and the Newcastle United Foundation.
Sir Bobby’s family and our wonderful Hike4Hopey fundraisers will be guests of honour on the pitch and we will be extremely proud to see players from both teams warming up in Sir Bobby Robson Foundation t-shirts. Some of these will be auctioned after the match to raise funds for us.
We hope today’s game is an entertaining one. If Sir Bobby was still with us, we know where he would be this afternoon.
