ABBA FEVER AT WYLAM BREWERY

Heather Scott from Jarrow, South Tyneside, says she firmly believes ‘you reap what you sow’ and since starting her own business in 2010, has dedicated one day a week to volunteering, charity fundraising, collaboration or mentoring.

She has run the Great North Run and Kielder Marathon, set up and runs a weekly parent and toddler group, climbed Ben Nevis and, last year, ran the hottest London Marathon in history – no mean feat, especially after a 200mile training programme in the North East winter.

In total, she has raised over £10,000 for charities and this June, is organising an event at Wylam Brewery in Newcastle in aid of our Foundation and the Graham Wylie Foundation.

Heather says: “I think my marathon running might be behind me but I was keen to continue challenging myself and raising money for charities that are close to my heart.

“It was during a client meeting at Wylam Brewery when I thought, if people are kind enough to give sponsor money for no return, what about organising an evening of good food, music and dancing in an exciting venue. That way, people are supporting charities and also have a great night out.

“It’s also a way for me to use my event management skills and contacts to create a special evening – and no 200mile training for me in 2019!”

So, the idea for Abba Fever at Wylam Brewery was born and the two charities to benefit were chosen by Heather in memory of her Father, David Scott.

Abba Fever at Wylam Brewery is on 27th June. Tickets cost £25 and include a £10 donation to the two charities, a drink on arrival and a portion of street food.

Entertainment on the night will be provided by award-winning Abba tribute band, Abba Fever, and Nightair Discos.

Heather adds: “Thank you to everyone who has already offered support for Abba Fever at Wylam Brewery. We’ll be having a fantastic raffle on the night with donated prizes from the Hilton Gateshead, SD Events, The Utilita Arena and Close House among others.

“I’m really looking forward to the night and thrilled by how well tickets are selling. It will be very special and great fun!”

Our thanks to Heather and everyone involved.
