OUR TRULY GREAT, GREAT NORTH RUNNERS

As always, Sir Bobby’s family and friends were volunteering at our Great North Run tent today and saw at first hand the smiles, exhaustion and togetherness that makes this a day like no other.

Everyone at The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation is immensely proud of each and every one of our magnificent Great North Runners. We know there will be some sore legs out there!

We’re equally grateful to everyone who has supported our runners’ efforts by helping with training, sharing an ice pop or giving a cheer along the route, or by making a donation.

It all makes a difference and every penny raised will help us find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer. Together, we’re giving hope to people facing cancer now and in the future.

The Great North Run is enormously special. It is the world’s largest half marathon and we know, for some runners, it can be tough not just physically, but emotionally.

Everyone is running for a reason and each of our runners will have a personal perspective on cancer and burning desire to see cancer treatment improve. Every step taken along the 13.1mile route from Newcastle to South Shields brings us closer to that goal.

Crossing the Great North Run’s finish line is a fantastic feeling. To all our runners, enjoy that feeling and keep it with you always. You’ve done something very special today for yourself and for everyone affected by cancer.
