GREAT NORTH RUN – ALISON BAXTER
By Liz Luff On 15 September 2015 In Uncategorized
Two years ago, Alison Baxter’s husband, Bob, a lecturer at Hartlepool College of Further Education, ran in the Great North Run for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
At that time, he was undertaking a clinical trial of a new cancer drug in the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre.
Very sadly, Bob died last year and this year Ali, who describes herself as ‘not a natural runner,’ decided to challenge herself over the 13 miles for the Foundation and St Cuthbert’s Hospice.
It was her first Great North Run and, despite being extremely anxious beforehand, she met the challenge head on – and with a smile on her face.
You can hear Ali talking about the importance of clinical trials and the extra time they gave her and Bob in the Newcastle Building Society video to the right of this article.
