CRAMLINGTON JUNIORS ‘GET SHIRTY’ FOR SIR BOBBY ROBSON FOUNDATION

This season, Cramlington Juniors FC are doing something very special with their match shirts.

CJ 3For the first time in the club’s history, every single one of their 18 teams, with players from the age of just six through to 17, will be proudly wearing the same logo – that of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

The club prides themselves on the work they do with local children, helping them to develop and improve, teaching them how to play football the right way, encouraging discipline, team work and hard work. All qualities and attributes that Sir Bobby Robson was famously associated with.

Cramlington Juniors chairman, Michael Cairns, says: “We are very proud to donate the sponsorship of every team’s shirt this season to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

CJ 4“They do marvellous, important work funding projects that help cancer patients in our region and contribute to international research. And if we can help in some small way to promote them and remind people that the Foundation relies on volunteer fund-raisers, then that is fantastic.

CJ 5“I’d like to think Sir Bobby would appreciate the way we play football at Cramlington Juniors. We teach the boys to keep the ball on the deck, to pass, to move, to play it the right way. Hopefully, to do things his way.

“This is the first time that every Cramlington Juniors team, right across our whole age range will wear exactly the same strip. Though it is fair to say that the shirt sizes do vary quite a bit!”

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation aims to find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer and funds projects, including the clinical trials of new drugs, that directly benefit patients from across the North East and Cumbria – and which contribute significantly to international research into the disease.

Pauline Buglass, from the Foundation, which recently announced more than £9 million has now been raised for the charity, says: “We really appreciate Cramlington Juniors giving up the sponsorship space on their match shirts for us.

“They look absolutely fantastic with the Foundation logo on them and, each time they play, the teams will be helping to raise awareness about the charity.

CJ 2“We wish the club every success this season and hope the new shirts bring them luck.”
